The debut episode of Live with Kelly and Mark was met with mixed reactions from viewers, as some criticized the couple’s dynamic and others praised their chemistry. 

 Mark Consuelos recently stepped in as co-host alongside his wife, Kelly Ripa, following Ryan Seacrest’s departure to focus on his other projects.

Some viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the first episode, calling out Kelly, 52, for frequently interrupting her husband and new co-host, Mark, also 52. 

Some fans felt that the couple’s banter felt forced, while others argued that having a husband and wife duo as co-hosts wasn’t engaging.

Live With Kelly and Mark, featuring Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos as co-hosts, premiered on Monday. It’s a new beginning for the long-running morning talk show, just days after Ryan Seacrest said goodbye.

The pair walked out to the newly redecorated set — featuring Live with Kelly and Mark signs and coffee mugs — holding hands. She made the new co-hosting situation official, starting the show by saying, “It’s Monday, April 17, 2023. Joining me today — and permanently, until one of us dies — is Mark Consuelos.”

Then, Consuelos leans over and asks Ripa what they have planned for the day. And with a smile, the Live Wire author excitedly reveals, “Our show!” which apparently slipped the mind of the Riverdale alum. Before the promo ends, fans are treated to a sneak preview of the duo live in the studio, where they are casually talking and sitting at the infamous hosting desk.

In the comments section of the post, longtime viewers shared their excitement about the new Live with Kelly and Mark. One person wrote, “I have always wanted this to happen!!! Can’t wait,” alongside a red heart emoji. Another said, “Omg exciting!”

Kelly Ripa is reminiscing about an Italian getaway long ago!

The Live with Kelly and Ryan host, 52, shared a sweet throwback photo on Thursday featuring her husband Mark Consuelos and son Michael in Italy. She captioned the Instagram post: “#tbt Italian holiday 🇮🇹 @michael.consuelos atop @instasuelos circa 1998 #daddy“

In the comments section, users couldn’t help but point out the resemblance between Mark, now 51, and his son, now 25, who is also an actor.

“Michael looks so much like his daddy! And I think Joaquin looks like you, Kelly,” one user wrote, referring to the couple’s 20-year-old son. Another added, “Omg. Mark is Michael. Michael is Mark.”
