US health giant Kaiser hit by data breach — millions of customers informed they could be at risk

American healthcare giant Kaiser Foundation Health Plan exposed sensitive data on millions of its current and former patients, apparently by mistake. 

Among the data inadvertently shared with advertisers are member names and IP addresses, and information regarding their membership status with Kaiser Permanente. Furthermore, the company leaked information on how members interacted with the website and the apps, and what they searched for in the health encyclopedia.

An outage in Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) notorious US-EAST-1 region caused chaos for numerous companies and their customers over several hours

Anybody looking to purchase tickets through Delta Airlines or use Burger King’s app  would have noticed the troubling lack of connection, because these, like so many other companies, use AWS for cloud hosting services.

A New Tax Rule To Impact Millions of Small Businesses in 2022

From January 1. 2022, all freelancers, independent contractors, and small business owners who sell various types of products and services will have to follow a new tax rule. As a part of this rule, the IRS will look into their digital payment service accounts, and they’ll need to account for those earnings on their tax returns. All those who accept credit card payments through PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or some other third-party provider, will have to report the income to the IRS.

Up until this new rule was settled, it was up to business owners and freelancers to report all the income they made by selling goods and services to customers, but now this will be under the legislation of the IRS. Man Who Made Millions by Hosting Child Pornography on Servers Gets 27 Years in Prison

Described by U.S. authorities as the most prolific distributor of child pornography in the world when he was arrested in Ireland, Eric Eoin Marques was sentenced to 27 years in prison on Wednesday.

The convicted sex offender built and operated servers on the so-called dark web where anonymous users view see millions of illegal videos and images depicting the rape and torture of infants and toddlers, according to authorities.

The volume of content was so great that law enforcement said they had never seen so many before discovering Marques’ servers, prosecutors said. U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang told Marques in court that his activities equaled that of a drug kingpin.

“This crime was truly despicable,” Chuang said.
