Ian Wright has revealed how he left Gary Lineker “vexed” when he rated Alan Shearer ahead of him.

The trio, who were all prolific during their times in England’s top flight, have become regular colleagues on Match of the Day. Wright though will leave his role on the BBC programme after more than two decades when the current season draws to a close.

Arsenal’s legendary figure though rubbed Lineker up the wrong way when he voted on a poll to determine who was better of the two strikers. Wright opted for Shearer, who he claims “lived rent-free in my head” due to his experiences against the Newcastle great.

Saturday Kitchen viewers were left puzzled as Matt Tebbutt went missing from their screens this morning and was replaced by The One Show’s Alex Jones.

The Welsh presenter and mum-of-three shared her excitement on the morning show as she filled in for the 49-year-old TV chef. Alex’s face cropped up during BBC Breakfast when presenter Charlie turned to the Saturday Breakfast studio to find out what Matt had in store for viewers on the programme.

Speaking to Alex, a bemused Charlie said: “Matt’s disappeared and you’re there instead!” Responding, Alex excitedly said: “Matt’s disappeared and you’re there instead!” It comes after Matt Tebbutt had to be rushed to hospital for emergency surgery when he suffered a terrifying health issue.

British presenter Paddy McGuinness has been seen out and about for the first time since news that the upcoming series of Top Gear has been axed.

The comedian, 49, shared hosting duties with fellow hosts cricketer Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris.

It was announced on Thursday that the show was being axed after Freddie Flintoff’s awful crash during filming in December 2022.
