Spotify Jam Lets You Add Your Favorite Songs to a Shared Music Queue

Spotify has a new shared listening option for Premium users: Jam, which lets people contribute to a shared queue.

By selecting “Start a Jam” on your favorite playlist or song, other Spotify users within your household on the same Wi-Fi network can join your Jam. Guests can join by tapping phones together, scanning a QR code from your device, or—for those listening from afar—clicking a share link you generate. Spotify says those with a free Spotify account can also listen in, presumably with the same limitations they’d encounter on other playlists.

Eurovision winner shows the power of music for nursing home residents

Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh’s performance for residents at a Co Wicklow nursing home has been called “better than medicine”, as the power of music in care facilities is highlighted this week.

An advocacy group is holding an event, Music Speaks, coinciding with Nursing Homes Week, which aims to highlight the memory-jerking and communicative power of melodies for people living in care facilities.

This will see more than 100 residents in 30 nursing homes singing and playing music for an online performance that will be shared with other nursing homes.

This includes 100-year-old Peig Ryan, a traditional musician and music teacher, performing Peig Ryan’s Polka at St Anthony’s Nursing Home in Pallasgreen, Co Limerick, and Tess Steedman, 98, a resident of Orwell Healthcare in…

Taylor Swift, SZA lead MTV’s Video Music Award nominees

Taylor Swift and SZA are the top nominees for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.

Swift leads the pack with eight total nominations as she looks to win her first-ever Song of the Year award for “Anti-Hero” off her acclaimed 2022 album “Midnights.” The hit is also nominated for Best Pop Song, while its music video has earned nods for Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing and Video of the Year.

The “Lavender Haze” singer is also nominated for Artist of the Year, along with Beyoncé, Doja Cat, KAROL G, Nicki Minaj and Shakira.

Ken Bruce to front new Greatest Hits Radio station dedicated to Sixties music

The former Radio 2 DJ had been at the BBC for more than three decades before moving to a mid-morning weekday slot at the Bauer Media company in April this year, playing hit songs from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

On Thursday, Greatest Hits Radio announced the launch of a new digital station – Ken Bruce’s Secret 60s – marking the first time a whole station has been dedicated to the decade.
