Local authorities could be missing out on significant amounts of EU cash according to local MEP Colm Markey. He was speaking ahead of an address to the Northern and Western Regional Assembly in Co. Roscommon today.

The Midlands-North-West MEP said a dedicated EU funding officer within each County Council would help facilitate access to crucial funding.

Greeley, other northern Colorado cities hosting Overdose Awareness events – Greeley Tribune

The North Colorado Health Alliance is hosting four Overdose Awareness events Aug. 26 and 27 throughout northern Colorado.

More than 108,000 people die from an overdose in the United States each year, according to a Changing Minds news release.

Changing Minds, a local substance use disorder and addiction awareness campaign, is encouraging people to join the fight to stop overdoses through awareness events in Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins and Estes Park.

Hosted by North Colorado Health Alliance, the events aim to raise awareness, start conversations and take action when it comes to addiction and overdose impacts on people, families and communities, the release said. The efforts also seek to provide support and resources to those affected.

Northern Ireland business groups welcome Brexit deal ‘certainty’

A group representing all the main industries in Northern Ireland said a new EU/UK deal on post-Brexit trade rules for the region will help secure the stability and certainty that impacted businesses had sought.

“Reaching an agreement is an important step in securing the stability and certainty businesses have been seeking,” said the Northern Ireland Business Brexit Working Group, whose members include manufacturers, retailers, farmers and hauliers.

“It is our shared aspiration that the agreement will deliver a unique platform that unlocks economic growth and investment, but we will need time and space to work through the technical detail with our members,” the group said in a statement.
