The Windows XP activation algorithm has been cracked offline using Linux, The Register reports

According to a blog post on Tinyapps, a site that catalogs tiny software made for Windows, the crack means it’s possible to activate new Windows XP installations safely and securely offline. It’s worth noting that Windows XP has been cracked with tweaks and unofficial patches since its launch in 2001, but this crack allows people to activate XP offline without altering the OS whatsoever. 

According to a subreddit discussing the crack, the software that allowed for it to happen has been on the internet for months, and it’s not known who made and shared it or, The Verge notes.

For all you newsy folks who went to visit “Solomon’s” this morning and found an error page, he site has released a statement on Facebook. According to the post, the site has been considered “spam” by the web hosting company Blogger. It isn’t clear if the action taken by Blogger was based on a breech of the hosting agreement or if it was a random automated response. Blogger is a free website platform for many bloggers and owned by Google.

eNom data center migration mistakenly knocks sites offline

A data center migration from eNom web hosting provider caused unexpected domain resolution problems that are expected to last for a few hours.

Customers started to complain that they could no longer access their websites and emails due to Domain Name System (DNS) issues.

My google apps gmail is not getting email, turns out DNS is not working because @enom is doing “a datacenter move” that ran into problems. What medieval times are these when a datacenter move brings down DNS for organizations? Advance warning would have been nice @enomsupport.
