Opinion | DirecTV removed One America News. Why isn’t Fox News outraged?

Perhaps OAN is too puny, too fringy to care about. A 2019 Nielsen survey of its reach found that it averaged 14,000 total viewers, compared with an average of 631,000 for Fox News, as reported by CNN. But if you can blather on about open discourse when a rinky-dink social media outfit posing no threat to Fox News hangs in the balance, you can certainly blather on about open discourse when a rinky-dink cable outfit posing no threat to Fox News hangs in the balance. It all goes to show that Fox News, despite its bluster, doesn’t stick up for American values, free expression or other “conservative” outlets. It sticks up for itself.

Opinion | One Year After the Jan. 6 Attack, Parler’s C.E.O Grapples With Big Tech and Trump

After an angry mob attacked the Capitol last year and users on the right-leaning social network Parler organized, shared footage and called to “burn D.C. to the ground,” Kara Swisher grilled the platform’s co-founder and C.E.O., John Matze. The interview was cited in Apple’s decision to take Parler off its App store and Amazon’s decision to suspend web hosting service for Parler. Google also booted the platform off its Play Store. Parler effectively went offline because of these three moves, and Matze lost his job.

Alfred Williams: Reflections on hosting a mass vaccination site, and a look ahead | Opinion

River Valley Community College (RVCC), like all educational institutions, had a unique year. We shifted classes online and became experts in personal protective equipment (PPE). Our in-person classes looked like a science fiction novel with students and faculty adorned in masks, gowns, and face shields. Technology kept students and faculty connected even while in different locations. Staff became experts at advising from home. Despite the challenges, I believe RVCC became an even stronger community partner. While RVCC and its students, faculty and staff have always been committed and dedicated to our community, an opportunity for RVCC to serve as a vaccination site strengthened those ties.
