Sobriety stories to be shared at fundraiser for women’s recovery organization

SANDESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Law enforcement and former lawmakers will be joining women recovering from addiction, as they share their success stories during a fundraising event Saturday.

“Rock the Lawn” will take place at the Market Shops in Sandestin from 4-7 p.m. on July 27, 2024.

Path of Grace is a local organization that helps women overcome addiction and maintain sober lives.

A few of the women finding success with the program have been featured in Newschannel 7′s Freedom Friday segment.

The Tuscaloosa’s One Place is an organization that focuses on the families in poverty. They hold three task forces that prioritize improving pre-k readiness, child advocacy, and self-sufficiency.

To begin this month, TOP is hosting a mobile food pantry in Downtown Tuscaloosa at 810 27th Avenue starting at 10 a.m. on March 8.

Food will be free and on a first come basis.

Throughout this month as well, TOP is hosting several lunch and learns that allow those to come to understand career assessments, interview skills, job searching and building a strong resume.

Organization hosting workshops in Salmon Arm aimed at youth climate anxiety

Workshops to help youth navigate complex emotions are taking place in wildfire-ravaged areas in the B.C. Interior.

Be the Change Earth Alliance has announced new CARE (Climate, Action, Resilience and Emotions) programs with accompanying workshops aimed at B.C. students, teachers, and communities affected by wildfires.

The Vancouver-based organization is working in collaboration with UBC’s Climate Hub to offer the series of workshops, focusing on navigating difficult emotions induced by climate change and fostering resilience and action, reads a media release.

Autism organization hosting 10th annual Camp FRIEND

The camp, which is hosted in collaboration with the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, is dedicated to offering an inclusive day camp for students with autism.

The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley is hosting its 10th annual day camp, Camp F.R.I.E.N.D, which stands for Finding Rewards in Every New Day.

The camp, which is hosted in collaboration with the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, is dedicated to offering an inclusive day camp for students with autism.

The camp began Monday and is going through July 21st from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown.
