Facebook page offering free passes for Alton Towers is not associated with the theme park

Thousands of people have shared a Facebook post claiming to be offering eight free passes to Alton Towers theme park. 

But Alton Towers has confirmed that the offer is not genuine and the account that posted it is not associated with them.

The post, which has received more than 8,000 comments and almost 7,000 shares in the 24 hours since it was posted, says: “We have a super exciting announcement for all you thrill seekers. Times have been tough lately so to welcome you all back to Alton Towers this summer we have decided to reward everybody who has $hared&¢ommented in the next 48 hours from now with a complimentary coupon sheet with 8 passes!”

The post was published by a page called Alton Towers Fans, which was created on 17 April 2023.

Geauga Park District hosting Summer Solstice events – News-Herald

Geauga Park District’s Naturalist Department is hosting a full day of free events in celebration of the Summer Solstice.

The solstice celebrations will span four different parks during the day, with a Sunrise Walk from 6-7:30 a.m. at Observatory Park at 10610 Clay St. in Montville Township. The walk will follow the Planetary Trail with explanations from the naturalist.

A Horseback Trail Ride from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. will start off at Holbrook Hollows, 7250 Country Lane in Bainbridge Township. Those who bring their own horses will follow the trail from Holbrook Hollows to Cleveland Metroparks’ South Chagrin Reservation.

A Solar Noon Watch from 1 to 2 p.m. at Observatory Park will observe the noon-time sun, with astronomy naturalist Chris Mentrek helping study the sun during its highest…

Chester Zoo is not offering a giveaway through ‘Chester Wildlife Park’ Facebook profile

A Facebook post written as if it was shared by Chester Zoo is offering a fake giveaway. The official Chester Zoo page has warned that this is not a genuine offer. 

The post appeared on a Facebook profile called “The Chester Wildlife Park” on 3 June. The profile has the same display picture as the official Chester Zoo Facebook page, which has a blue tick and over one million followers.

The post says: “We’re thrilled to announce an exciting giveaway exclusively for our incredible Facebook community! In celebration of our beloved Chester Zoo and the unwavering support from our loyal visitors, we’re offering a chance to win an unforgettable day at our sanctuary for you and your lucky friends!”

Group hosting Red Dress walk Friday at Little Lake Park

Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association event begins at 5 p.m.

The Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association hosts its Red Dress Walk in Little Lake Park Friday.

As part of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People, the walk will begin with a smudging ceremony and prayer at 5 p.m. at the Huronia Museum and Huron Ouendat Village. From there, participants will walk through Little Lake Park with the event expected to conclude at about 7 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to wear red to honour and remember those who have been murdered or are still missing.
