200 million people use ChatGPT every week – up from 100 million last fall, says OpenAI

OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022, and while you might think that after being on the market for nearly two years, its initial popularity would settle down, the number of users keeps increasing exponentially.

On Thursday, OpenAI shared that ChatGPT has 200 million weekly active users. Compared to the 100 million weekly ChatGPT active users OpenAI reported having in November 2023, the number of active weekly users doubled in about a year.

NPD Confirms Data Breach Of 1.3 Million People

The National Public Data is responsible for managing extensive personal records, and they have recently confirmed a major data breach. The initial reports and hacker leakers claim that up to 2.9 billion personal records may have been affected. On their release, the NPD confirmed, “There appears to have been a data security incident that may have involved some of your personal information.

“The incident is believed to have involved a third-party bad actor that was trying to hack into data in late December 2023, with potential leaks of certain data in April 2024 and summer 2024.” After investigating more thoroughly, NPD confirmed the breach affected 1.3 million people. Thousands of people have shared videos suggesting the Prime Minister and Conservative leader Rishi Sunak plans to pay people £75,000 to leave the UK. 

One TikTok video has overlaid text saying: “Rishi offering 75k to leave UK”, while another says: “75k to leave the UK would you do this? Rishi Sunak new plans??”

A link to another TikTok video with the caption “Leaving the UK and getting £75k will be a new offer of the next govt Rishi Sunak [sic]” has been shared many times on Facebook

This clip shows a photo of Mr Sunak with audio from a section of a TV debate on 4 June in which Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and Mr Sunak are speaking about tax. Mr Sunak does not mention anything about a supposed incentive to leave the UK in the audio clip.

As World Refugee Day (June 20) focuses our attention on helping asylum seekers and refugees, the Safe Home Programme offers some new and innovative solutions to the complex challenge of hosting large numbers of displaced people.

After the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, countless people fled the country. Most went to other countries in Europe and now some 7 million people still live abroad.

A significant percentage of these refugees were supported by host communities including individuals and families who welcomed them into their homes. This widespread show of solidarity provided an essential lifeline to numerous people from Ukraine.
