FIBA confident of successful World Cup hosting by Philippines

FIBA executive director David Crocker is confident that the Philippines is capable of successfully hosting the 2023 FIBA World Cup scheduled to fire off this Friday, August 25 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Judging from his recent visit in Manila to see the logistical preparations made by the organizing committee under Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Crocker shared how he was left “impressed with the strong support” provided by the different sectors involved.

Hoax missing boy post uses picture of animal rescue volunteer in Philippines

Posts claiming that a photograph shows a five-year-old boy who has gone missing after leaving home on his bike have been shared in Facebook groups. But these appeals for information are hoaxes. 

Full Fact has seen examples of these posts in community buy and sell groups in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, and Lethbridge, Canada.  

The posts both use exactly the same text which says: “Help!!! MISSING Child!! #Gawler

My grandson Josh only 5years old went out on his bike earlier today and he still hasn’t returned.He doesn’t know where he’s going, new surroundings.There is a silver alert activated on him. Please help bump this post so we can get him home safely!! [sic]”

Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi to host Miss Universe Philippines segment

MANILA, Philippines — Zozibini Tunzi, the third South African woman to be crowned Miss Universe, will take part in the 2023 Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) pageant’s coronation show, the national organization’s Director of Communications Voltaire Tayag revealed at the candidates’ press presentation held at Marquis Events Hall at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on April 11.

Tunzi won the Miss Universe title in 2019, inheriting the crown from Filipino queen Catriona Gray.
