LFC to host community event at Anfield to celebrate Ramadan

On Sunday April 7, Anfield will welcome 2,800 people from diverse communities across the Liverpool City Region to come together to break their fasting with a range of delicious food and take part in collective prayer in an inclusive environment.

As part of Red Together, the club’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, the event – which is being run in collaboration with the Liverpool Region Mosque Network and is now in its third year – will provide a unique and vibrant meeting place for people from all backgrounds to share in the spirit of Ramadan, celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of togetherness.

High school students host Ramadan celebration to fundraise for earthquake relief

The cafeteria at Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School in London may have looked bare Friday morning — but by night it’s set to be bursting with lanterns, decorations and an array of delicious foods and desserts.

That’s because a group of Muslim students at the high school have rallied together to host an iftar celebration, a meal shared when Muslims break daytime fast in the evening, to bring the community together during Ramadan. 

But the event is about more than sweets and festivities — it’s also a way to share their culture and fundraise money for relief efforts in February’s earthquake in Syria and Turkey.

“To take action and help the people in need really means a lot to us,” said Amal Belal, co-founder of Banting’s Earthquake Aid student group.
