Writers of Color Santa Cruz County hosting third poetry reading at MAH – Santa Cruz Sentinel

SANTA CRUZ — From Scotts Valley to Watsonville and everywhere in between, it is well-known that Santa Cruz County is an artist haven. That goes not just for visual artists and musicians but writers and poets as well, all coming from different walks of life with different stories to share.

There are enough writers of color throughout Santa Cruz County that an organization was formed in 2021 appropriately called Writers of Color Santa Cruz County to amplify writers of color and allow for opportunities to share their work. One avenue for the past three years has been poetry readings at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. That tradition will continue Oct. 10  when 17 local poets will read and showcase their work.

New LGBTQIA+ Shared Reading taster sessions announced at Liverpool’s Everyman

An exciting new collaboration between The Reader and Liverpool’s Everyman is confirmed for June 2024.

The Reader is excited to be launching new LGBTQIA+ inclusive Shared Reading taster sessions at Liverpool Everyman.

Two drop-in sessions will accompany a debut play set in the Aids epidemic, Tell Me How It Ends, by Tasha Dowd, a graduate of the award-winning Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) programme. These pre-show sessions on 19 and 20 June are open to everyone and FREE to attend.

At Shared Reading groups people talk, connect and share experiences using stories, plays and poetry. There is no pressure to talk or read aloud – it’s fine to just sit back, relax and listen.
