Epic and Palworld developers meet urgently as the number of concurrent gamers rises

After players experienced connectivity problems, the team behind the recent blockbuster Palworld met with Epic Games. Top of the rankings as one of the most played games on Steam, Palworld is already a big success there. Part of the player base experienced connectivity problems during this spike in volume, which limited multiplayer capabilities. Almost a million copies of Palworld were sold in the first eight hours of its release on January 19, making it difficult to ignore. Within the self-described “multiplayer, open-world survival and crafting game,” players have appreciated both the premise and the gameplay.

A fifth consecutive year of cPanel price rises for 2024

For a fifth consecutive year, we have been pushed into raising cPanel prices from 1 January. We never like making decisions like this, but our own costs have been increased up by the owners of cPanel, a company called WebPros.

Regular readers of this blog may recall earlier rounds of this news from last year, or the year before, or even the original announcement from way back in 2019. It never gets easier, even as the story stays the same.

This year, CloudLinux is also affected.

The new cPanel Plus Cloud tier adds a step between 30 accounts (Pro) and 100 (Premier).

Midday Report: US Stocks Extend Gains as Holiday Spending Rises

US stocks rallied Monday, on pace for a fourth straight daily gain and another S&P 500 record as COVID-19 infections continued to rise after the long Christmas holiday weekend.

The S&P 500 gained 1.1% to 4,775.90 by the early afternoon, while the Nasdaq Composite index rose 1.2% to 15,835 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.7% to 36,184.50.

Technology and energy led the way, with all sectors higher.

MasterCard’s (MA) US holiday sales data showed an increase of 8.5% for the period from Nov. 1 through Dec. 24 compared with the 2020 holiday shopping season.
