Success! CBC Removes Music Host’s Segment Which Shared Song “River 2 The Sea” With Listeners, In “Solidarity With The People Of Palestine”

On April 3, the CBC radio program Reclaimed, which bills itself as a “weekly series on CBC Music that explores the many worlds of contemporary Indigenous music,” hosted by Jarrett Martineau, featured the host introducing a song by telling listeners that “this one (song), in sonic solidarity with the people of Palestine, this is ‘River 2 the Sea,’ on Reclaimed.”

The song in question, by Hussein Elnamer (who goes by the stage name Handsome Tiger), is a reference of the commonly-used anti-Israel chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” referring to the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea, an unmistakable message that calls for Israel’s dissolution or destruction in its entirety.

Photos: New Red River cart dedicated in Estevan on National Indigenous People's Day

ESTEVAN – The Souris Valley Museum celebrated National Indigenous People’s Day on June 21 by hosting a dedication ceremony for its new Red River cart.

The carts were once used by Métis people for the transportation of virtually everything from goods and materials to people. The cart that is located at the museum was crafted by George Fayant, who has made numerous carts over the years, including one that used to be on display at the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum.

Marg Friesen, who is the regional director for Eastern Region III with the Métis Nation Saskatchewan, was among the many people at the event, and she spoke to the Mercury of the cart’s significance.

Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity hosting it’s first annual Hard Hat Breakfast – InForum

GRAND FORKS — The Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity wanted to implement an annual fundraiser for a while. They thought now was the best time and a breakfast was the best way to do it .

Red River Valley’s sector was inspired by the Habitat for Humanity in Alexandria, Minnesota, which has been doing a hard hat breakfast for over a decade.

Communications Director Elizabeth Wilde and Executive Director Marissa Sauceeda are expecting 50 to 100 people and hope to continue this every year.

The fundraiser will be this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Zion United Methodist Church in Grand Forks.

Breakfast will be served with the help of Hugo’s Marketplace and Dakota Don’s Artisan Waffles. It will cost $10 for ages 9 and up, $8 for kids ages 3 to 8, and…
