Mentor Police and Fire Departments hosting a Safety Forces Open House – News-Herald

The Mentor Police and Fire Departments will be hosting a Safety Forces Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Mentor Police Station and Mentor Fire Station 5 parking lots located at 8500 Civic Center Blvd.

Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to:

• Meet police officers and firefighters

• See fire engines, police SUVs, and other specialty vehicles

• Tour the police and fire departments

• Watch an auto extrication using the Jaws of Life

• Watch a K9 and drone demo

• Photo opportunities

• Learn equipment and safety information

• Enjoy King Kone ice cream

Motorcycle safety advocates hosting awareness rally in Beaumont

Family and friends of Corey Sennet Sr. will gather this weekend to honor his life.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Looks twice, save a life. That’s the message from one family of one motorcyclist that hopes all drivers remember.

Family and friends of Corey Sennet Sr. will gather this weekend to honor his life. They are holding a motorcycle awareness rally.

Sennet died in a motorcycle crash along College Street in 2021.

Authorities ruled it an accident, saying dense fog may have played a role in the crash.

Holly’s House Hosting Safety Fair For Children Saturday

A local organization dedicated to assisting victims of child abuse is hosting an event this weekend to help kids recognize and prevent abuse.
Holly’s House is hosting the safety and awareness fair Saturday September 18 from 1:00 to 4:00 at 750 North Park Drive in Evansville.
The event will feature touch a fire truck exhibit, free snacks, games and activities. There will also be information booths educating kids about various topics to keep them safe.
Other partners in the event include the Evansville Public Library, Soothing Stripes Project, and other partners. In addition to EFP, EPD and EMS, there will also be food trucks selling food during the event.
