In what’s potentially the biggest game show news of 2023, Pat Sajak is retiring from hosting “Wheel of Fortune” and “American Idol” frontman Ryan Seacrest is replacing him.

And although an official start date has yet to be announced, the “Wheel of Fortune” Instagram page announced on June 27 that Seacrest would begin spinning the wheel in 2024. When Sajak initially announced his resignation via Twitter on June 12, he confirmed that he was sticking around for his 41st season.

Last month we reported that Ryan Seacrest is officially set to take over hosting duties on the fan-favorite television show after Sajak rounds out his decades-spanning role with his 41st and final season. Vanna White doesn’t seem likely to say goodbye to Wheel of Fortune just yet.

Speculation has been swirling regarding White’s future with the popular game show following longtime host Pat Sajak‘s announcement that he is retiring after 41 seasons, followed up by confirmation that Ryan Seacrest will take over hosting duties.

Now, sources close to the situation tells PEOPLE that Sony Pictures Television is in talks to keep the glamorous fan favorite on the show.

“They are in negotiations with her,” confirms the insider, “and would like to have her back.”

The “American Idol” personality shared the news on social media Tuesday, writing — “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.
