Most people believe the work should be left to professionals or people who know their job the best. Their judgment shouldn’t be second-guessed on most accounts. But sometimes, a person might fail to understand the consequences of their actions even if the former explains it to them. A similar thing happened with an employee, u/PineScentedSewerRat, who was forced to listen to a client even when they were wrong to make them understand what would happen if things were done in their way.

Kremlin photo does not show ‘severe electricity shortage’ in Moscow due to sanctions – Full Fact

A photo showing the Kremlin without any lights on is being shared on social media alongside claims Moscow faces a severe electricity shortage due to Western sanctions. 

One post sharing the photo says: “BREAKING Russia: Moscow remains dark due to severe electricity shortage The reason is reported to be in difficulties at servicing foreign turbines at Russian thermal power plants due to Western sanctions [sic]”. Other posts have almost identical text. 

But the photo does not show a recent electricity shortage—it was shared in a 2014 article about ‘Earth Hour’, the annual WWF event that encourages people to turn off non-essential lights—such as those on famous landmarks—to raise awareness for climate change. Video claimed to show Iran coverage of Paris Olympics is satirical clip from 2013 – Full Fact

A video is being shared widely on social media with a false claim it shows genuine coverage of Paris Olympic events being censored on Iranian broadcasts.

In the footage being shared, women are shown competing in events, including high jump, hurdles, and diving, with parts of their body obscured by superimposed black rectangles and stars.

But the clip, which has been circulating on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), with the caption: “this is how Iran broadcasts the Olympics”, is not a genuine Iranian broadcast of the Olympics.

It comes from a 2013 satirical video, which can be seen on the YouTube channel of a Farsi-language satire show OnTen

Comedian Jason Manford lands major new hosting role on BBC’s new game show

Jason Manford is poised to charm audiences as the host of the BBC’s newest quiz show, The Answer Run. The 43 year old comedian will be at the helm of this exciting general knowledge game, where contestants compete in teams of two, with hope of pocketing a sizeable cash prize.

RIMEX hosting annual car show fundraiser for blood cancer research

Registration open for car show taking place Sunday, Aug. 11

RIMEX, a wheel manufacturer with locations in the Lower Mainland including Langley, is hosting it’s seventh annual car show fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphona Society of Canada. 

In 2017, the company’s founder Chris Weston passed away from a rare blood cancer, shared Sarah Laing, sales support at the Gloucester location. 

“To honour his memory and contribute to the fight against blood cancers, RIMEX actively supports the LLSC. As a company, we have raised over $80,000 through various fundraising events held annually,” she said. 

The car show will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Gloucester location at 5929 274 St.
