‘The Locher Room’ to Host Special Live Broadcast Dedicated to Soap Opera Weekly

This year marks 35 years since the debut of Soap Opera Weekly, the defunct full-size print magazine that delved deep into what’s happening or would be happening on all of the daytime dramas. The publication ran for 23 years.

To celebrate the magazine and all it accomplished, Alan Locher‘s “The Locher Room” will host a special live broadcast on Wednesday, May 22. The broadcast will feature key members from Soap Opera Weekly’s heydey, including founding editor-in-chief Mimi Torchin, who led the outlet for 11 years, managing editor Kate Walsh, news editor Gabby Winkel and editors Jonathan Reiner, Mark McGarry and Travis Kinsey.

Jane McDonald reveals new TV job after hosting British Soap Awards – Nottingham Post

Jane McDonald has announced a new TV job days after stepping in to present the British Soap Awards. The TV personality replaced Phillip Schofield, who was originally set to present the award show, after he quit ITV. After Jane was revealed as Phillip’s replacement she was full of excitement to take over.

At the time Jane, 60, said: “Oh my god…..everyone knows how much I LOVE my soaps, this year I’ve been honoured to be mentioned in Corrie, EastEnders and Emmerdale, so this is just a dream come true.

Camano Island hosting soap box derby Saturday | News

The area’s popular soap box derby returns this weekend after COVID-19 put the brakes on last year’s event.

Nearly 80 drivers will zoom down the two-lane track at speeds around 25 mph all day Saturday at Arrowhead Ranch on Camano Island.

“I think everyone is excited to get back in action after a year away,” said Randy Heagle, who with wife Marla owns the local Windermere offices. They are the derby’s lead sponsor.

In 2019, the Stanwood-Camano race featured a record 93 racers on a dedicated soap box track at Arrowhead Ranch on Camano, one of 23 dedicated tracks in the U.S., which has about 110 race sites each year.
