Video of Keir Starmer being ‘kicked out’ of a pub is actually from April 2021 – Full Fact

A video of Sir Keir Starmer being thrown out of a pub has been shared on social media as if it were recent.

Posts featuring the video shared on X, formerly Twitter, and Facebook, are captioned: “An absolute HERO kicks new British PM Keir Starmer out of his pub! This is EXACTLY how you deal with these ZIONISTS!”

But the video is actually from April 2021, when Mr Starmer was Leader of the Opposition. A BBC report said the landlord in the video “was unhappy with Labour’s response to government lockdown measures”. There is no mention of Zionists or Zionism.

Misleading pictures and videos are some of the most common types of misinformation we see online.

Recently we’ve checked videos with false claims they show a recent prisoner swap and protests about the…

Headline on court ruling on calling Keir Starmer ‘Tory scum’ has been edited to include his name – Full Fact

A screenshot claiming to show an article headlined “Reasonable for protesters to call Sir Keir Starmer ‘Tory scum’, court rules” has been edited.

The image has been shared on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). The caption says: “A court has found that it is plausible to describe Starmer as, “Tory Scum” – I think this was established long before this court ruling to be fair”.

While some saw it as a joke, others appear to believe it was genuine

The original headline was published by the Guardian in November 2023 and refers to Conservative MP Sir Iain Duncan Smith, not Mr Starmer. The article describes a high court ruling not to overturn an acquittal of two protesters who were previously found not guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words…

Social media image showing ‘Muslims paying tribute to Keir Starmer’ is not real – Full Fact

An image has been shared on social media with the caption: “Muslims pay tribute to Keir Starmer outside Number 10,” but this is not a genuine photo.

The image supposedly shows rows of people on prayer mats outside Number 10 Downing Street with the suggestion this is related to Sir Keir Starmer being elected as the UK Prime Minister following the election on 4 July.

The image was shared both before and after the general election took place.

However, there are multiple visual clues that suggest the image is inauthentic, and most likely created using artificial intelligence (AI).

To start, two figures in the front row are warped so that feet appear instead of heads, while the hands of other figures—although they’re in the right place—are misshapen and…

Edited image of Sir Keir Starmer sitting with Jimmy Savile recirculates online

An altered image that appears to show Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer sitting next to Jimmy Savile is circulating again on Facebook in the run up to the general election.

The photo shows Mr Starmer sitting on a chair beside serial sex abuser Jimmy Savile. Shadow international development secretary Lisa Nandy is also visible.

However, as we have reported before, the image has been edited to include Savile’s face.

The original photo was posted by shadow chancellor, Rachel Reeves in December 2022 and shows a group of people—including Ms Reeves, Ms Nandy and the Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin watching an England football World Cup match.

It shows Mr Starmer sitting alongside former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In the altered image shared on Facebook, Mr…

Photo does not show Sir Keir Starmer sitting beside Jimmy Savile

An altered image that falsely claims to show Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer sitting next to Jimmy Savile is circulating again on Facebook

The photo shows Mr Starmer sitting on a chair beside serial sex abuser Jimmy Savile.

The image appears to be a screenshot of a TikTok video, which includes the text: “Sir Kier Starmer wants this photo permanently removed from the internet. Let’s keep it moving…[sic].”

Other people are visible in the background of the image, including shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves, shadow international development secretary Lisa Nandy, and the Labour mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin, who are sitting on chairs behind Mr Starmer.

However, as we pointed out earlier this year, the image has been edited to include Savile’s face.

The…
