SANDESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Law enforcement and former lawmakers will be joining women recovering from addiction, as they share their success stories during a fundraising event Saturday.

“Rock the Lawn” will take place at the Market Shops in Sandestin from 4-7 p.m. on July 27, 2024.

Path of Grace is a local organization that helps women overcome addiction and maintain sober lives.

A few of the women finding success with the program have been featured in Newschannel 7′s Freedom Friday segment.

South Carolina ETV (SCETV) will select a viewer to host a fun-filled “red, white and blue” Fourth of July watch party in recognition of the upcoming PBS program, A Capitol Fourth.

Dominicans Share Stories of Fentanyl Addiction and the Devastating Effects

In a recent interview at Hogar Crea, in the Colonial City, two former fentanyl users shared their experiences and shed light on the prevalence of the deadly drug in the Dominican Republic. Pedro and Manuel, both addicts who have battled their addictions for years, agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity, using fictitious names.

Pedro’s story began at the young age of 13 when he started using heroin, stealing a portion from his father, who was a drug dealer. Soon after, Pedro became addicted and joined the family business. Fast forward 39 years to 2021, Pedro, now seeking a new high, easily found fentanyl on the streets.

When I first got into this business I frequently wondered why the domain-policy mailing lists I was getting involved in attracted a lot of activist types.
