Heritage Alliance hosting Summer Supper series | Sunday Stories

The Heritage Alliance is serving up a new dining experience in Jonesborough this summer.

The Summer Supper series is a monthly offering taking place from now through September and featuring a fine meal served on various historic lawns throughout the area. All suppers will start at 6 p.m., and tickets for each supper are limited to 26 guests. Tickets can be purchased through the Town of Jonesborough’s ticketing website at Jonesborough.com/tickets.

The first Summer Supper was held May 22 at February Hill.

Other dates and locations include June 12 on Spring Street, July 24 at the Warner Institute, Aug. 14 at the Historic Embree Farm in Telford, and Sept. 18 at a home on East Main Street.

Kelly Clarkson Works Hard for This Donna Summer Cover, Dedicated to Restaurant Servers

Kelly Clarkson effortlessly brought back disco by covering Donna Summer‘s hit “She Works Hard for the Money” for her talk show’s latest “Kellyoke” segment on Friday (Nov. 6).

The song perfectly fit the theme of the hour, “Restaurant Resurgence: Salute to Servers,” since Summer reportedly found inspiration for the song when she met a hardworking waitress named Onetta at the West Hollywood restaurant Chasen’s.

According to LAist, “She went to the bathroom and saw the attendant taking a nap with a small TV on. Donna startled the woman from her nap, and the woman told Donna she worked 2 jobs and was really tired. Donna thought to herself, ‘Wow, she really works hard for her money.'” Summer wrote the song in about 20 minutes that same night. She even mentions the waitress by name in the…

Why Retailers Are Hosting Virtual Summer Camps

Some retailers heard that 62% of U.S. summer camps closed due to coronavirus and, on top of everything else, decided they’d like to braid friendship bracelets, too. Parents can now send their kids to virtual summer camp where they used to buy camp gear. 

The counselors: Walmart, Amazon, The North Face, Apple, and Shake Shack (that I’ve seen).

The activities: Depends on the brand. The North Face has hosted nature photography classes at Summer Base Camp; Walmart’s coordinating family games and crafts with celebrity guests through its app. And a few have dedicated product tie-ins…

  • Amazon’s Camp Handmade is selling dedicated kits for some DIY activities.
  • Shake Shack’s selling $79 kits with a six-week activity plan…and coupons.
