ISPConfig is an awesome free panel, great for a beginner to learn on. But for building a serious hosting co, I would recommend a more feature rich panel, which of course requires investment, but it also comes with higher quality service that your customers deserve.

The big 3 are cpanel, DirectAdmin and Plesk. They all do pretty much the same things, just different UIs. They require additional mods to really be successful, like Cloudlinux, Kernelcare, Jetbackup. I would usually spend around $80/mo per server in licenses to run one of these panels.

I would shill for Enhance as a new panel that’s doing really good. I started testing it last year and put it into…

I’m a big fan of the Samsung SSD’s as well, after having extensively used the Intel entry level SSD’s (5xx series) for specific clients around a decade ago, and having experienced a perpetually worsening failure rates as model #’s climbed. We pivoted to the Samsung 860 Pro’s at the time, and had very positive experiences.

That said, I’d be very careful about using the current generation of Samsung EVO’s: We have a customer who deploys considerable numbers of these drives, and has done so for awhile. You will have to excuse me.

There are some great providers active on this forum, both managed and unmanaged. I haven’t tried any managed providers as we manage our servers in-house. I have used some unmanaged ones, some of them are great, some are not so much. There are a lot more that I haven’t tested that are equally great.

If I name a few, I would have to leave out the other great providers that I haven’t tested. I don’t want to do that.

But that shouldn’t prevent you from finding one if you keep your eyes open.
