Chicago-based nonprofit Latinos Progresando hosting 12th annual MEX talks at Harris Theater, a celebration of Mexican culture

CHICAGO (WLS) — Latinos Progresando, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization, will host its 12th annual MEX talks, a one-night showcase celebrating the culture and contributions of Mexicans in the US. The event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Harris Theater.

MEX talks was created by Latinos Progresando to give Mexican and Mexican American leaders with diverse experiences the platform to reflect on a shared identity and tell stories to inspire positive change.

Following the release of Fuerza Mexicana: The Past, Present & Power of Mexicans in Chicagoland, the first-of-its-kind report commissioned by Latinos Progresando and a collaborative of Mexican nonprofit leaders, the 2024 event theme is OWN IT.

Local nonprofit dedicated to circus arts to host Soirée des Arts Special: ‘Sideshow’ at Trail Theater – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Nowadays, the circus is more than clowns just pouring out of a car. Some of the body-bending acts can blow you away.

Next week, Les Ailes du Désir Foundation, Miami’s only nonprofit dedicated to circus arts, is going to host their legendary soirée, and the performers are ready to give you a high-flying good time.

Feast your eyes in wonderment. LADD is throwing its third Soirée des Arts, called “Sideshow.”

Teresa Cesario: “There’s a line in ‘Mary Poppins’ where she goes, ‘Close your mouth, you look like a codfish.’ Everyone’s mouth is just jaw-dropped.”
