LinkedIn Is Using Your Posts To Train Its AI. Here’s How To Opt Out

LinkedIn in is under fire as they’ve started to use user-generated content to train its AI systems without first having asked its users for permission to do so.

In its updated privacy policy, LinkedIn revealed that posts, articles, and other types of content shared on the platform may be used to improve the performance of its AI models. While the platform has added an opt-out option, it appears that users were automatically included in this process without any initial consent.

X Is Using Your Tweets to Train Its AI: Here’s How to Disable That

Longtime users of X, formerly Twitter, got a nasty surprise Friday when they learned that a new setting on the platform opts them in for AI training on their posts and interactions. That means Grok, X’s AI platform, by default can suck up that data and learn from it unless you change your settings to block that.

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise; X has changed its terms of service to pave the way for this. Last year, the service began collecting biometric data as well as employment and school history, as part of a move to use public data to train its AI. Photo of busy train carriage is from Cairo, not Sweden

A photo of a train carriage where all but one of the women are wearing religious dress has been shared with claims it shows Malmö in Sweden, but it was almost certainly taken in Egypt.

One post, with more than 1,300 shares, says: “This is not Iran, this is Malmö, Sweden, which is occupied by Islam”.

However, this photo does not come from Malmö, which has no metro or tram system operating within the city (although a metro line connecting it to Copenhagen in Denmark has been proposed).

Skanetrafiken, the company responsible for public transport networks in Malmö, confirmed to Full Fact that “it’s not a picture from Malmö”.

Footage of trains that connect Malmö to other places in Sweden are visibly different to the carriage in the image. The metro
