We have seen a number of fake headshots of former president Donald Trump spread online, following his surrender in the US state of Georgia on charges of plotting to overturn the state’s election results. Mr Trump has denied any wrongdoing and described the case against him as a “travesty of justice”.

One image shared on social media was likely created using an AI image generator and has been spreading since at least April.

One major giveaway is the jumbled letters behind him—AI often struggles to correctly recreate text, resulting in garbled words in some AI-generated images. 

Mr Trump posted his real mugshot on Twitter, now known as X, with the words “Election interference” and “Never surrender!”

Digital World Acquisition (NASDAQ:DWAC), the blank-check company behind Donald Trump’s Truth Social network, dropped 7.3%, falling for the fourth day in a row as vote for an extension on its deal with Trump’s social media company nears next week.

The fall, which comes after a 6.5% drop on Friday, also follows a report from Thursday that one key vendor isn’t getting paid for service. RightForge said Truth Social stopped making contractually obligated payments for Web hosting services months ago, leading to payables of $1.6M, Fox Business reported.

Former President Donald Trump’s Twitter knockoff Truth Social stiffed a contractor in the latest sign of financial “disarray” at the troubled social network, according to Fox Business.

Truth Social, which is headed by former Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., is in a “bitter battle” with RightForge, the network’s web host and one of its largest vendors, over $1.6 million in unpaid bills, according to the report.

The company entered into an agreement with Truth Social in October. Sources told Fox Business that Truth Social made just three payments and hasn’t paid anything since March. The company is now threatening legal action unless it is paid, according to the report.
