Hugging Face has disclosed a data breach affecting its Spaces platform, a place where developers can create, share, and host different Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, and resources. 

In an announcement posted on the community’s website, the company said it detected unauthorized access to its Spaces platform, “specifically related to Spaces secrets”.

Late Friday afternoon, a time window companies usually reserve for unflattering disclosures, AI startup Hugging Face said that its security team earlier this week detected “unauthorized access” to Spaces, Hugging Face’s platform for creating, sharing and hosting AI models and resources.

In a blog post, Hugging Face said that the intrusion related to Spaces secrets, or the private pieces of information that act as keys to unlock protected resources like accounts, tools and dev environments, and that it has “suspicions” some secrets could’ve been accessed by a third party without authorization.

Web Hosting Canada says unauthorized activity by third-party service provider caused major outage, data loss – DatacenterDynamics

Montreal-based service provider Web Hosting Canada suffered a lengthy outage on Saturday 28 August.

The company blamed the downtime on unauthorized activity by an undisclosed third-party service provider. Production servers and backup servers were affected, which may have caused permanent data loss for some. Services are still recovering.
