Video of explosion at Nova Kakhovka Dam is from 2022

Following the recent breaching of the Nova Kakhovka Dam, near Kherson in Ukraine, a video showing an attack on the dam has been shared hundreds of times on social media

The CCTV footage, which has also been shared a number of times on Facebook, shows the dam at night, before the screen suddenly flashes white. This is then followed by what appears to be at least two explosions, with clouds of debris clearly visible. 

Some of the posts we’ve seen are tagged “#Breaking” or “#BreakingNews”, suggesting  that this clip shows the moment that the dam, located in Russian-controlled southern Ukraine, was recently breached. ‘Pride installation’ on Arc de Triomphe is animated video

Posts on social media, shared hundreds of times, claim that the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris has been “defaced” with a giant rainbow installation to celebrate Pride Month. 

The posts, which have also been shared on Facebook, include a video which appears to show a large rainbow encircling the monument, arching over the road and ending with a cloud-shaped sculpture bearing the words “marche des fiertés”, which means “pride parade” in French

It appears that some social media users have believed that this is a physical installation in Paris, but i’s actually a 3D animation created by Ian Padgham, an artist from California now living in France.

Video showing ‘NATO soldiers now in Ukraine’ was filmed in Afghanistan in 2021

A number of social media posts have inaccurately claimed a video shows “NATO soldiers now in Ukraine”.

The video was actually filmed in Afghanistan in August 2021, and shows military personnel involved in evacuations taking place at an airport in Kabul following the withdrawal of US and NATO troops from the country.

Posts being shared on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feature clips or screenshots of a TikTok video showing military personnel, vehicles and aircraft, as well as large crowds of people.

The video, which has been viewed more than 5.8 million times on TikTok, features text which reads: “NATO soldiers now in Ukraine.”
