Livingston County Sheriff Michael Murphy served on the Board of Directors for the LOCASA Center, which provides services for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual violence.


But Steve Neavling  of Metro Times, citing unnamed sources,  reports that many board members were furious and called on Murphy to resign after he decided two weeks ago to host Donald Trump at his office for a campaign speech and press conference. Murphy ended up resigning.


The Michigan Bureau of Elections is investigating Murphy after Metro Times reported that he may have violated state law by using taxpayer resources to support a political candidate.

As World Refugee Day (June 20) focuses our attention on helping asylum seekers and refugees, the Safe Home Programme offers some new and innovative solutions to the complex challenge of hosting large numbers of displaced people.

After the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, countless people fled the country. Most went to other countries in Europe and now some 7 million people still live abroad.

A significant percentage of these refugees were supported by host communities including individuals and families who welcomed them into their homes. This widespread show of solidarity provided an essential lifeline to numerous people from Ukraine.

Union County Hosting Virtual Forum On Domestic Violence Thursday

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The Seventh Annual Union County C.A.R.E.S. (Community, Action, Response, Education, Safety) Domestic Violence Symposium is scheduled to take place later this week, and those working in fields dedicated to serving victims are being encouraged to register and learn from a host of subject-matter expert speakers.

Telegram took down ‘hundreds’ of calls for violence from public US channels » TechnoCodex

With just two days before Wednesday’s presidential inauguration, Telegram said it has spent much of the last two weeks monitoring the situation in the US and subsequently taking enforcement action. In a post to his public channel spotted by The Verge, founder Pavel Durov wrote, “Telegram welcomes peaceful debate and protest, but our Terms of Service explicitly prohibit distributing calls to violence.” Durov was also quick to point out what Telegram did was consistent with measures the company has taken in the past involving similar cases in Iran, Thailand, Hong Kong and other countries.
