Textile artists to ‘walk hand-in-hand’ for joint Limerick exhibition

A COLLABORATIVE ‘cross-border’ exhibition will run in one Limerick school for 10 days, which will see artists ‘join hands’.

The initiative known as Hands Across the Border is a joint collaborative by two cross-border textiles groups – The Irish Patchwork Society (IPS) and the Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild.

For every exhibition, a theme is set for the members, with this year’s theme entitled ‘Walk in the Park’.

From August 10 to August 20, the Mid-Western Branch of the Irish Patchwork Society will host an exhibition in the Cathedral Gallery of Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD).

With over 30 quilts in the exhibition, the theme has been widely interpreted with quilts reflecting nature, places, and people.

Group hosting Red Dress walk Friday at Little Lake Park

Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association event begins at 5 p.m.

The Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association hosts its Red Dress Walk in Little Lake Park Friday.

As part of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People, the walk will begin with a smudging ceremony and prayer at 5 p.m. at the Huronia Museum and Huron Ouendat Village. From there, participants will walk through Little Lake Park with the event expected to conclude at about 7 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to wear red to honour and remember those who have been murdered or are still missing.
