Puna group dedicated to ‘āina stewardship to host festival celebrating Hawaiian culture, community and wellness : Big Island Now

A Puna nonprofit dedicated to helping men stay clean and sober through community service and mālama ‘āina (caring for the land) will hold its first Makahiki Cultural Festival in January, an event celebrating Hawaiian culture, community resilience and holistic wellness.

The event, hosted by the Men of Pa‘a (firm, solid, immovable), will take place during the Makahiki season, an ancient Hawaiian New Year festival that honors Lono, the Hawaiian god of fertility.

Liverpool personal trainer to host women’s wellness event dedicated to female health through the decades

A day dedicated to empowering women to take control of their bodies at every stage of life, from 20s through to post-menopause, is coming to Liverpool.

The Women’s Wellness Day has been created by Liverpool personal trainer Harriet McGuffie to help women gain a better understanding of the physical changes they’re likely to encounter as they get older.

The event, at Hope Street Hotel on Sunday November 12, will feature a wide range of experts covering every aspect of wellness from gynaecological and sexual health to skin and hair care.

Bedford VA hosting Women Veterans Health & Wellness Fair

BEDFORD — The Bedford Veterans Affairs Health Care System is hosting the Women Veterans’ Health & Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 10 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Hospital to coincide with Women Veterans Day on June 12 and to highlight the PACT Act.

Bedford VA spokesperson Patrick Kirby said the fair is open for all veterans so that they can view health and wellness demonstrations, enroll in VA health care and get screenings for toxic exposure resulting from their service.

Recently appointed deputy secretary of the state Executive Office of Veterans Services, retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Andrea Gayle Bennett will also be the guest speaker at the fair, where she will talk about women veterans and self-care.

The Sneaky, Disturbing World of White Nationalist Wellness

On a cursory scan of its website and Instagram page, Mighty White Soap Co might look like an innocuous, cutesy personal care brand, albeit one with an arguably archaic and tone-deaf name. But a closer look turns up some offbeat offerings mixed in among its seasonal designs, colorful swirls, and floral patterns, like a soap embedded with glow-in-the-dark letters that read CIA. And a review of all their product names reveals a disconcerting mélange of unremarkable odor monikers (“Autumn Caress”), strange references to obscure far-right memes (“Clown World”), and an apparent fixation on white consumers (“Morally White,” “Caucasian Abrasion”).
