Stars are remembering groundbreaking daytime TV vet Phil Donahue after his death.

Donahue died at home on Sunday, Aug. 18 at age 88, per a statement shared with PEOPLE. He was surrounded by his wife of 44 years — actress Marlo Thomas — as well as “his sister, his children, grandchildren and his beloved golden retriever, Charlie.”

He “passed away peacefully following a long illness,” the statement concluded, noting that Donahue’s family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Phil Donahue/Notre Dame Scholarship Fund.

Caitlin Clark reacts to historic ESPY wins, Serena Williams’ hosting

Caitlin Clark has weighed in on her first ESPYs.

Watching from the comfort of her own couch, the Fever’s All-Star rookie won two awards — Best Record-breaking Performance after becoming the NCAA’s Division I all-time scoring leader during her senior year at Iowa — and the Best College Athlete, Women’s Sports.

She made a virtual appearance at the live show at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Serena Williams Celebrates 2024 ESPY Hosting With A Star-Studded Party

Serena Williams delivered an impressive performance as the host of the 2024 ESPY Awards held in Hollywood, Calif., on Thursday (July 11).

Williams’ spearheading of the show included a monologue where she sent shots to Drake with a joke referencing the feud between him and Kendrick Lamar.

“If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” the multiple Grand Slam champ said as she C-walked to “Not Like Us.” She continued, “He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re going to Forrest Gump him. Seats taken.”

Serena Williams joined her sister, Venus, and Quinta Brunson in calling out Pat McAfee for his comments about WNBA star Caitlin Clark earlier this year at the 2024 ESPY Awards. The trio also took shots at Harrison Butker.
