Willoughby Public Library hosting two college planning workshops – News-Herald

Willoughby Public Library announced that it will be hosting two college planning workshops on Sept. 19.

“Exploring Lakeland Community College Resources” will take place at 5:30 p.m. Grace Bakos of Lakeland Community College will provide an overview of programs and services available to students considering post-secondary education options, according to a news release.

She will discuss partnership programs with four-year colleges and opportunities to transfer credits. Grace also will be available to meet with students and their families to answer questions.

Then, “College Planning Workshop – How to Lower Costs” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jennifer Harpham, director of Financial Aid for My College Planning Team, will offer a college planning workshop for parents of students in…

Workshops to help youth navigate complex emotions are taking place in wildfire-ravaged areas in the B.C. Interior.

Be the Change Earth Alliance has announced new CARE (Climate, Action, Resilience and Emotions) programs with accompanying workshops aimed at B.C. students, teachers, and communities affected by wildfires.

The Vancouver-based organization is working in collaboration with UBC’s Climate Hub to offer the series of workshops, focusing on navigating difficult emotions induced by climate change and fostering resilience and action, reads a media release.

Norwood Public Schools to Host Parent Workshops During Mental Health Awareness Month

NORWOOD — Superintendent David Thomson is pleased to share that Norwood Public Schools will be hosting parent workshops throughout the month of May in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health Awareness Month, observed in May, aims to bring awareness to the importance of mental health, fight stigma, provide support and advocate for policies that support millions affected by mental illness. 

All workshops will be offered to parents via Zoom and will start at 6:30 p.m. Zoom links will be shared via Parent Square.
