Deadline understands that host Mayim Bialik decided against hosting the final week of filming for season 39, standing in solidarity with the striking writers.

However, we understand that production on the final run of episodes for the season is going ahead with Ken Jennings taking over hosting duties. The final episodes of the season will be filmed at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City between Tuesday May 16 and Friday 19 May.

Jeopardy!, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television, is a WGA show and features contributions from WGA writers, but the questions were written in advance of a season and the strike.

The context collapse has escalated at the site formerly known as Twitter: Starting sometime yesterday, the previews that X automatically generates of shared links now strips them of headlines and displays only the lead art and the link’s domain name in the bottom-left corner.

For example, the preview card for my share of the story I wrote yesterday about Android 14 consisted of a header image we ran from Google PR, stamped with “pcmag.com.” Previously, the preview card would have included that image but also the headline and a snippet of the story’s text, which made it obvious you were looking at a shared link and not an attached photo.

Drew Barrymore dropped as awards show host over writers’ strike

Drew Barrymore has been dropped as the host of the 74th National Book Awards.

The National Book Foundation explained it had revoked the 48-year-old’s offer to host over her decision to bring back her self-titled talk show amid the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.

The ceremony is set to take place in New York on November 15, but the National Book Foundation confirmed in a statement shared on X, formerly known on Twitter, that Drew would no longer be hosting.

On Friday (May 12), Rolling Stone reported claims alleging the set of the singer’s eponymous talk show was a toxic workplace, quoting one current and 10 former staffers as saying they were “bullied and intimidated,” “overworked,” “underpaid” and “traumatized,” among other things, while working for Kelly’s producers. The outlet also noted the staffers, past and present, thought Kelly was unaware of what was going on behind the scenes. “NBC is protecting the show because it’s their new money maker, but Kelly has no clue how unhappy her staff is,” one person said.
