When Apple unveiled iOS 17 at its WWDC event in June, the Journal app drew a lot of attention. While Apple didn’t release the app with iOS 17 in September or with the iPhone 15 series, the tech giant did release the app with iOS 17.2 in December.

Journaling has been linked with many mental health benefits, including helping manage anxiety, reducing stress and coping with depression. Experts have warned popular iOS productivity app was flawed in a way that allowed threat actors to steal sensitive data from the vulnerable device.

The app in question is called Apple Shortcuts, and it acts as a nifty little time-saving widget that allows apps to interact with one another on specific tasks and thus generate useful actions, such as using it to determine the user’s location, calculate how much time it would take to get home, and send that information via SMS, to a contact. 

As launch day for Apple’s Vision Pro approaches on Feb. 2, the company shared which video streaming apps will be accessible on day one. Netflix is noticeably missing from the list, and according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the streaming giant purportedly did not create a native app for the VR headset, nor will it support its iPad version. 

Rather, Netflix is urging Vision Pro users to stream its content on a web browser such as Safari. Apple settled a class-action lawsuit this week that accused Apple of misrepresenting the way subscriptions to third-party apps worked with Family Sharing.

As part of the settlement, Apple has agreed to pay out $25 million to people who participated in a Family Sharing group with at least one other member who also had a subscription to the app through the App Store between June 21, 2015, and January 30, 2019.

The issue lies in how Family Sharing subscriptions were shared. Family Sharing is advertised to allow participants to share subscriptions; however, Apple also allows developers to opt out of allowing families to share subscriptions to its apps, which resulted in the lawsuit.
