Satire on Recent Attack in Lebanon Shared As Real

The video was a satirical take on the situation in Lebanon where at least 32 individuals, including two children, lost their lives and numerous others were harmed, with many in critical condition, following the sudden explosions of communication devices, including some utilised by Hezbollah, that occurred in various parts of Lebanon.

  • According to Lebanon’s health ministry, in the most recent explosion on 18 September, 20 people were killed and at least 450 were injured by exploding walkie-talkies.

  • The blasts worsened tensions following a sophisticated attack on Hezbollah members’ pagers the day before. The militant group accused Israel for the situation, reported the BBC.

Miscaptioned video showing ‘Muslim immigrants’ attack in France performed by stunt group – Full Fact

A video is circulating on social media with misleading claims it shows an attempted assault by “Muslim immigrants” on young women in France.

In the footage, a group of young men in a pedestrian underpass appear to try to accost some women as they attempt to walk through, before a fight breaks out and the men are left lying on the ground after being hit by the women.

It has been shared over 2,100 times on X, formerly Twitter, and a screenshot of the video also appears on Facebook with the caption: “In France, a gang of Muslim immigrants tried to assault a group of young women.

“Little did they know what awaited them. Don’t mess with the French women!”

Prison attack video is unrelated to recent riots – Full Fact

A video which appears to show prison officers gathered around a person with blood visible on the floor seen millions of times on X (formerly Twitter) wrongly claims to show a “recently imprisoned rioter” “severely slashed up in Strange Ways prison [sic]”. 

The caption shared alongside the clip goes on to ask “why would judges send them to a Class A prison for tweeting or assault” and adds: “Blood is on the Prime Minister’s hands if this is true.”

Versions of this post, using the same clip and text, have also been shared on Facebook.

But there is no indication that anyone involved in the video had anything to do with the recent violent disorder seen across England and Northern Ireland.

Hackers Weaponizing Vortex Meeting Software To Attack macOS Users

Threat actors leverage meeting software applications and tools to penetrate weak security loopholes, infiltrate secure settings and organizations, steal highly confidential information, and restrict organizational functions.

Recorded Future’s Insikt group has recently unveiled a long-term campaign aimed at macOS cryptocurrency users, conducted by the “markopolo” threat actor.

The alleged virtual meeting software is Vortax, a carrier for three potent infostealers: Rhadamanthys, Stealc, and Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS).

Exploiting these vulnerabilities in macOS denotes an alarming increase in AMOS attacks and malicious apps that put user security at risk.

Old footage of Norwegian ship exploding misattributed to Red Sea attack

A video which falsely claims to show an American destroyer being hit by a missile in the Red Sea earlier this month, has been online for over a decade.

The footage has been shared more than a thousand times on X (formerly Twitter), and also on Facebook, with the caption: “BREAKING: The #US destroyer ‘Mason’ was precisely hit in the Red Sea. 

“For the first time, the military spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier Yahya Saree, announces a direct hit on the destroyer, indicating a shift from warnings to direct targeting. #Yemen Conflict.”
