Google Cloud gets into web3 act with managed blockchain node service • TechCrunch

Five years ago the blockchain was blossoming in the enterprise, or so many companies had us believe. Back then, companies like SAP and IBM were trying to build blockchain practices, but while the technology sounded good to solve myriad problems in the enterprise, it never really took off.

Fast forward to 2022 and the blockchain comes under a new guise with the name web3 as an umbrella term and lots of VC money behind it. So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the cloud platform companies want to get into the act.

Polygon launches blockchain ‘Supernets’ with $100M in Web3 developer grants

Ethereum scaling solution Polygon today unveiled a new dedicated network for blockchain hosting called “Supernets” and announced a $100 million fund to encourage developers to use the technology.

Polygon is what is known as a Layer-2 scaling solution that provides developers infrastructure on top of the popular Ethereum blockchain to reduce transaction times and costs caused by congestion.

Blockchain technology is the basis of Web3, the decentralized web, which is made up of distributed peer-to-peer applications that run without the need for dedicated servers or centralized authority. Web3 applications are built out of self-executing programmable smart contracts that govern operations and logic over networks.

Enterprise Blockchain Processor, TAAL, becomes Hut 8’s Newest Hosting Services Partner

TORONTO, May 28, 2021 /CNW/ – Hut 8 Mining Corp. (TSX: HUT) (“Hut 8” or the “Company”), one of North America’s oldest and largest innovation-focused digital asset mining pioneers, is thrilled to announce its latest hosting partnership with Enterprise Blockchain transaction processor, TAAL Distributed Information Technologies Inc. (CSE: TAAL).

Hut 8 will provide physical hosting and optimization services and access to competitive electrical power for 960 newly-purchased digital hashing computers owned by TAAL. Hut 8 will also work with TAAL to make their existing fleet more efficient. Under the terms of this deal, TAAL will have 960 hashing computers, using 3.2 MW of Hut 8 power.
