“I got to ring the bell yesterday,” she said. “It was great. It was very exciting because it’s been a long 30 sessions, six weeks.”

However, Isabella explained that she’s still in the process of treatment and will start chemotherapy next month.

“That’s my next step,” she added. “I’m ready for it to start and be one day closer to being over.”

Amid her recovery, Isabella is also looking forward to her future. “I’m looking forward to getting back to college and moving back to California and just starting my school experience over,” she said. “Not over, but just restarting, being back into a routine and something that’s enjoyable.”

Wilmot Cancer Institute to host symposium dedicated to cancer survivors

Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Survivorship Program is hosting a free virtual Survivorship Symposium open to cancer survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.

The program’s mission is to provide information, resources, and tangible advice to survivors as they reintegrate into everyday life. The topics will range from managing relationships and family life after a diagnosis, to sleep hygiene, managing the cost of cancer care, and more.

Help Kids Fight Cancer At Avon Fundraiser

SIMSBURY/AVON, CT — Tickets are on sale for a special fund-raising dinner in Avon to support a Simsbury nonprofit dedicated to helping children fighting cancer.

Vie for the Kids, Inc. will host its annual Gold Ribbon Dinner at The North House in Avon, 1 Nod Road, on Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Guest speakers will include Marisa Caponetti, pediatric cancer survivor, and Dr. Michael Isakoff, who is an oncology doctor at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford and a professor of pediatrics in the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Tickets include a three-course dinner with table wine service and a one-hour open bar.

Guests are encouraged to wear dressy casual attire and add a touch of gold in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Diego Guauque lost a kidney in his fight against cancer

Renowned journalist Diego Guauque has become a true inspiration and role model for those facing the difficult battle against cancer.

For several months, Diego openly shared his fight against sarcoma on his social networks, undergoing surgeries and treatments to combat the disease.

Despite the unbearable pain, Guaque remained firm and through faith and family union, announced that he had finally overcome cancer.
