Morgan County Partnership for Children & Families plans to host a ‘bear-y’ special day – The Fort Morgan Times

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, the Morgan County Partnership for Children & Families will be hosting a day dedicated to highlighting the importance of quality childcare. Morgan County’s 20 licensed childcare home providers and nine licensed childcare centers will participate in this county-wide campaign.

When parents or guardians drop their child or children off at childcare Tuesday morning, they will receive a sticker that says, “I’m at work today because my child is in quality childcare.”

Childcare providers will be wearing the color brown and will also read the beloved classic book, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by author Bill Martin, Jr. and illustrator Eric Carle. Bay County marking 20th anniversary of 9/11 with memorial ceremonies and events

BAY CITY, MI – This Saturday would normally be a typical late summer weekend in Michigan, where you would typically kick back and relax while enjoying the cooler breezes and what little time summer has left to offer. However, this weekend’s September breezes will carry with it more than just the impending changing of seasons – the memories of those who were lost 20 years ago during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks will also be carried on the wind and by the members of the Bay County community.

Various organizations and groups across Bay County will be hosting special events and ceremonies this weekend to remember and mark the 20th anniversary of the of the 9/11 attacks.

Craft House in Dana Point hosts ‘End of Summer BBQ’ on Sunday, Sept. 12 – Orange County Register

Yes, it’s almost the end of summer but before you say, “bummer!” plan a fun Sunday in Dana Point.

Craft House is hosting its “End of Summer BBQ” on Sunday, Sept. 12. There will be platters of sandwiches stuffed with barbecued brisket, pulled pork or veggies. Sides include potato salad, beans and chips.

DeSoto police, Dallas County DA hosting event Saturday to collect unwanted guns, ammo

In an effort to stymie gun-related crimes, DeSoto police said they are teaming up with the Dallas County district attorney’s office and DeSoto city officials on Saturday to collect unwanted firearms and ammunition.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., people can trade firearms and ammo for Walmart gift cards at DeSoto Fire Station No. 2, 206 S. Parks Drive, police said.

A $100 Walmart gift card is being offered for each firearm that is voluntarily surrendered, police said.

“This program is dedicated to ensuring safety within our communities by providing a safe place for citizens to surrender their unwanted firearms and ammunition,” police said in a post shared on the department’s Facebook page.

Police said they will not ask for identification from people who turn in firearms. They asked that…
