The Tuscaloosa’s One Place is an organization that focuses on the families in poverty. They hold three task forces that prioritize improving pre-k readiness, child advocacy, and self-sufficiency.

To begin this month, TOP is hosting a mobile food pantry in Downtown Tuscaloosa at 810 27th Avenue starting at 10 a.m. on March 8.

Food will be free and on a first come basis.

Throughout this month as well, TOP is hosting several lunch and learns that allow those to come to understand career assessments, interview skills, job searching and building a strong resume.

Pro-Iranian Islamic Charity in UK Under Investigation for Hosting Antisemitic Events Featuring IRGC Commanders

An Islamic charity in Britain is under investigation after videos emerged of Iranian generals delivering antisemitic speeches to audiences at its premises in west London.

The videos were unearthed by United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), a US-based research and advocacy group, and shared with the BBC, which verified their authenticity.

According to the BBC’s reporting, one video described an “apocalyptic war on Jews” while a second contained Holocaust denial.

The footage – which also includes a denial of the Holocaust – adds to growing concerns from some parliamentarians that the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is…

Eastern Romania: Iași to host events dedicated to 165th anniversary of Union of Romanian Principalities

Iași, in eastern Romania, is set to host a series of events dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities, celebrated on January 24.

“165 years ago, through the Union of the Principalities, Romanians decided to emerge from old times to build a great, beautiful, and prosperous country. In 1859, Iași – understanding its historical mission – renounced its official status as the Capital of Moldavia to lay the foundations of the Romanian state,” said mayor Mihai Chirica cited by the Facebook page of the Iași City Hall.

The series of events begins on January 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with the inauguration of the Museum of Natural History. That same day, at 3:00 PM, the ‘Vasile Pogor’ Hall of the Iași City Hall will host the scientific event ‘The Army…

Poshmark is offering webinars to teach sellers how to host live-selling events called Posh Shows. In an email kicking off the New Year this week, Poshmark said, “Intro to Posh Shows is a beginner-friendly class where you’ll learn how to go live for the first time and how to utilize the different features to maximize your show.”

Sellers who want to bypass the waiting list to become a host can attend the Intro to Posh Shows webinars.

Posh Shows are live events where sellers host an auction-style show and shoppers bid on their items. When Poshmark officially announced Posh Shows in April 2023, it wrote in part:

Video shows 2011 tsunami in Japan, not recent events

Posts circulating online falsely imply a video shows a tsunami in Japan caused by an earthquake that hit the country yesterday (1 January 2024). 

The video shows boats and vehicles being carried by a large wave that spills over a road and into buildings. It has been shared across social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, with the suggestion it shows a tsunami caused by the recent quake. 

One post has the caption: “First tsunami waves have hit Japan after a major earthquake measuring 7.4”.

Yesterday’s earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 and 55 people are reported to have been killed at the time of publication.
