US events to honor civil rights leader

Many across the U.S. on Monday will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through marches, tributes and volunteering in an effort to improve their communities.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is observed each year on the third Monday in January. King, who would have turned 93 on Jan. 15, was a pastor and civil rights leader who dedicated his life to achieving racial equality — a goal he said was inseparable from alleviating poverty and stopping war.

Zuddl raises $13M for its simple but powerful virtual events platform – TechCrunch

Will the world ever go back to big in-person events? Of course. Eventually. CES already moved in that direction this year, for better or worse.

But everyone’s already gotten a taste of virtual events, and their many ups and downs. Ups? Huge potential audiences! No flights! No mile-long lines to enter the horror show bathrooms! Downs? The tech side of things can get remarkably complicated, and it’s hard to make a virtual show more compelling/interactive/engaging than a YouTube video would be.

Biz Roundup: Texas Roadhouse opens to the public after hosting events to benefit community members – Salisbury Post

SALISBURY — After hosting several pre-opening events to benefit the local community, Texas Roadhouse opened to the public Tuesday at the Rowan Summit Shopping Center.

The location, which is just under 8,000 square feet and can seat about 300 guests, is the first Texas Roadhouse in Rowan County. The franchise was brought to Salisbury by Managing Partner David Simon. Texas Roadhouse joins Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hobby Lobby, Five Below, Kirkland’s and several other businesses that already inhabit Rowan Summit Shopping Center.
