Google to restrict third-party Chromium browsers’ access to Chrome sync » TechnoCodex

In a recent blog post, Google announced it would restrict some Chrome-specific features, like sync and ‘Click to Call,’ that found their way into third-party Chromium browsers.

For those unfamiliar with Chromium, it’s an open-source browser project largely managed by Google. Chromium forms the foundation for Google’s Chrome browser, as well as a variety of other browsers including Microsoft’s new Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and more. Chromium is also available as a browser on its own, although it relies on several Google services for features like Safe Browsing.

“During a recent audit, we discovered that some third-party Chromium based browsers were able to integrate Google features, such as Chrome sync and Click to Call, that are only intended for Google’s use,” Google…

Parler removed from Google and Apple stores; Amazon no longer hosting

President Donald Trump has been kicked off of most mainstream social media platforms following his supporters’ siege on the U.S. Capitol. But it remains to be seen how fast or where — if anywhere — on the internet he will be able to reach his followers.

The far right-friendly Parler had been the leading candidate, at least until Google and Apple removed it from their app stores and Amazon booted it off its web hosting service just after midnight Pacific time early Monday.

Amazon cuts of Parler’s web hosting following Apple, Google bans

(AP) – President Donald Trump has been kicked off of most mainstream social media platforms following his supporters’ siege on the U.S. Capitol. But it remains to be seen how fast or where — if anywhere — on the internet he will be able to reach his followers.

The far right-friendly Parler had been the leading candidate, at least until Google and Apple removed it from their app stores and Amazon decided to boot it off its web hosting service by midnight Pacific time on Sunday.

Parler’s CEO said that could knock it offline for a week, though that might prove optimistic. And even if it finds a friendlier web-hosting service, without a smartphone app, it’s hard to imagine Parler gaining mainstream success.

The 2-year-old magnet for the far right claims more…

After Google and Apple Amazon also bans Parler from its web hosting service-ANI

Washington [US], January 10 (ANI): In another subsequent blowout to the American social networking app Parler, now Amazon has also suspended the company from its web hosting platform, with effect from Monday midnight. This comes as a third blow to the social networking app after Google and Apple banned it from their respective app stores.
According to The Verge, these bans come after the accusations that the social media app was fostering calls to violence ahead of, and following, the raid on the US Capitol. Now, unless Parler finds another web hosting service, it will go offline following Sunday night.
Parler’s CEO John Matze said that the site could be offline for up to a week “as we rebuild from scratch.” Matze said that the company had prepared for such an event, “by never…
