Palworld Server Costs May Explain Why Xbox Is Helping Out With Pocketpair's Game Pass Hit

Last week, Xbox provided an update on the mega-successful Palworld and how the team was helping out with the Game Pass phenomenon – and a new post from the developer’s CEO explains why this may be necessary.

Taking to Twitter, Pocketpair’s Takuro Mizobe joked about the server costs for Palworld, and how the team could “go bankrupt” by keeping the servers running.

The tweet roughly translates to “Wait, maybe we’ll go bankrupt due to server fees?”, and the quoted figure puts Palworld’s running costs at around $470,000 per month. Given the astronomical success of the title, Pocketpair is joking around here, but still, that’s a…

If you have somehow missed this story as it has been evolving, Japanese indie hit Palworld has been tearing up the leaderboards on both Steam and Xbox platforms. As we reported on Thursday, it has over 19 million players between the two stores, and while it’s available on Game Pass, the majority of the players are actually on Steam.

Now, Palworld is a multiplayer game. You can play it solo, but it’s intended to be played with up to 32 players in a single massive open world. This is one of many characteristics that the survival game inherited from Minecraft, ARK Survival Evolved, and similar “survival-craft” titles. Kelly Ripa Lip-Syncs Madonna Hit on ‘Generation Gap’

This clip was pulled from an episode that aired back in July, but Ripa clearly thought it a fitting tribute to the Queen of Pop.

In fact, that wasn’t the only post Ripa made in honor of Madonna’s latest trip around the sun. The day prior, the All My Children alum shared a slideshow that honored Art Moore (the executive in charge of production on Live) and the Material Girl.

For her caption, Ripa wrote: “Let’s give birthday wishes to two of my favorite people … Art Moore and @madonna! Thank you both for all the celebrations!”

This slideshow featured pics we had no idea existed, from a shot of Madonna holding baby Joaquin to another that saw Ripa grabbing Madonna’s hand while at her concert.

It has been reported that tens of thousands of British Airways, BBC and Boots staff may have had their personal details stolen following a suspected Russia-linked cyber attack. BA has written to many of its 34,000-strong workforce warning them of a “cyber security incident which has led to the disclosure of personal information about colleagues paid through British Airways’ payroll in the UK and Ireland”.

The hack is linked to BA’s payroll provider, Zellis, and other companies that work with the company have also had their information stolen.

Boots has emailed employees saying that staff’s…
