Turkmenistan is preparing to host an international conference dedicated to Magtymguly

Turkmenistan is preparing to host the International Scientific Conference «The Fount of the Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi» on the 18th of May this year, which will be dedicated as part of the events marking the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen philosopher and classical poet. Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Education and Health N. Amannepesov spoke about this at a government meeting via video link.

According to him, in order to attract international attention to initiatives aimed at studying the work of Magtymguly, the Institute of Language named after Magtymguly, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is organizing the International Scientific Conference «The Fount of the Wisdom…

Bahamas to Host 2024 Afreximbank Annual Meetings, AfriCaribbean Trade Forum 

The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) yesterday, signed the Agreement for The Bahamas to host the 31st Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM) and the third edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF).

The AAM would be held in Nassau, The Bahamas, from 12th to 14th of June 2024.

A statement quoted President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah, to have said: “Afreximbank’s historic decision to hold the 31st Afreximbank Annual Meetings in The Bahamas will be the first time it has been held in the Caribbean. BBC News host undergoes major surgery and will be off air for MONTHS as they share a snap from their hospital bed

BBC World News’ Karin Giannone has revealed she will be off air for months after undergoing major knee surgery.

The journalist, 50, who regularly appears on the broadcaster’s dedicated news channel after joining in 2005, shared a snap from her hospital bed to X and Instagram on Thursday.

Karin explained how she had undergone knee osteotomy, which helps alleviate arthritis and takes six-months to a year to make a full recovery.

Writing: I’m out of action for a couple of months after a knee osteotomy surgery, but very much looking forward to being back on air on @BBCNews when I am up and running again!’.

Barcelona submits its candidacy to host a centre dedicated to the blue economy

Barcelona is bidding to host a UNESCO Ocean Decade Collaborative Centre (DCC), which will focus its activity on the development of the blue economy. This was announced during the opening ceremony of the Decade of the Ocean Conference, which is taking place until Friday 12 April at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) and which brings together more than 1,500 people from the ocean community to focus on the challenges and opportunities related to ocean sustainability.
