CHICAGO (WLS) — Latinos Progresando, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization, will host its 12th annual MEX talks, a one-night showcase celebrating the culture and contributions of Mexicans in the US. The event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Harris Theater.

MEX talks was created by Latinos Progresando to give Mexican and Mexican American leaders with diverse experiences the platform to reflect on a shared identity and tell stories to inspire positive change.

Following the release of Fuerza Mexicana: The Past, Present & Power of Mexicans in Chicagoland, the first-of-its-kind report commissioned by Latinos Progresando and a collaborative of Mexican nonprofit leaders, the 2024 event theme is OWN IT.

Shania Twain expressed her anxiety about hosting the big night in a recent interview.

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards are taking place at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, this year. The three-day event kicked off on September 27 and will conclude with the award night on September 29. While Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal are hosting the main event, IIFA Rocks is being co-hosted by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Abhishek Banerjee. (Hustisford) PATH of Hustisford is hosting a dedication ceremony for their new mural Saturday, September 28th at 1pm. The dedication will take place at the corner of Tweedy and Lake Streets in Hustisford, outside the Nature Made Heaven Scene Soap Shop building.  

The mural was designed by local resident, Grace London and completed alongside her parents, Carrie and Nate London. In total, the mural took around 81 hours to complete. Tanya Lemke shared the mural project was a team effort.

RICHMOND, Va. — Saint Francis – Manchester is getting ready to host its 4th Annual Giving Day! It’s happening October 4.

Executive Director Bruce Slough joined us in studio to share more about the assisted living facility and the online giving day.

For 52 years, their mission has been to serve the elderly of central Virginia who have limited financial means, and to make sure they provide dignity, loving care and safety. There are more than 100 residents and over 50 dedicated staff.
