LOS ANGELES — Mayim Bialik has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of “Jeopardy!”

In an Instagram post, Bialik thanked her fans and said she was grateful to have been part of the show.

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family,” she wrote.

“For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.”

Yoshie’s return to Jeopardy! was a poignant one, as she had been a part of the very last game hosted by the beloved Alex Trebek, who succumbed to stage four cancer in 2020. The episode had been taped just ten days before Alex’s passing, marking the end of an era for the iconic game show.

For over a month, Ken Jennings has received a great deal of flack for choosing to continue hosting Jeopardy! amid a writers’ strike. Even with the backlash, he has powered through. Now he has an opportunity to host a show and has taken it! The series gives an update about the host and contestants.

Ken Jennings Doesn’t Back Down

Some of the pushback came from Ken Jennings continuing to host during a writers’ strike. While his counterpart Mayim Bialik left filming during Season 39. Many fans were happy about it, but one said, “@KenJennings You’re a disgrace if you’re trying to cross picket lines. Alex [Trebek] would NEVER do anything of the sort. Ken Jennings, who has more “Jeopardy!” wins than any other contestant in show history, was the first person to fill in as a guest host following the death of Alex Trebek — a role he said he was “beyond nervous” to take on at the time.

“Honestly, I’m with the audience. I don’t want me out here. I want to see Alex out here,” Jennings said in a brief “Jeopardy!” interview filmed shortly after Trebek’s death from pancreatic cancer nearly three years ago. “I know exactly how they feel when they see anybody else behind this lectern. But there are tens of millions of people who love this show. We love this show, Alex loved the show. I’m just happy to fill in and help out.”

ABC has dropped the key art for Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 2, and Ken Jennings is taking center stage.

The promotional photo comes less than two weeks after ABC revealed Jennings would be taking over the primetime edition of the iconic game show.

Bialik was initially set to remain as host, but after stepping away from the syndicated series earlier this year, the series is forging ahead without her.

The Big Bang Theory alum announced she would depart the 39th season early to stand in solidarity with striking writers amid the WGA strike.
