Baku hosts concert dedicated to founder of Russian classical music [PHOTOS]

The Russian House in Baku has hosted a festive concert timed to
the 220th anniversary of the founder of Russian classical music
Mikhail Glinka, Azernews reports.

The event was co-organized by Baku Music Academy and the Russian
House in Baku.

Head of the Russian House in Baku Irek Zinnurov, the presenter
and curator of the event, Doctor of Philosophy in Art History,
senior lecturer of the Baku Music Academy Alena Inyakina spoke
about the historical role of Mikhail Glinka, who opened a new path
for the development of composing creativity based on the synthesis
of national traditions and achievements of European musical
culture.

Fox News host’s parody music video ‘Keeps Fallin’ about Joe Biden goes viral

A parody music video of President Joe Biden created by comedian and host of FOX News Saturday Night Jimmy Failla is now going viral online as more fans share it. 

The video is a parody of rock artist Tom Petty’s famous tune ‘Free Fallin’ and features clips of Biden wandering around, falling down on stage and on the stairs of Air Force One, as the lyrics point out that Biden ‘Keeps fallin.’

Success! CBC Removes Music Host’s Segment Which Shared Song “River 2 The Sea” With Listeners, In “Solidarity With The People Of Palestine”

On April 3, the CBC radio program Reclaimed, which bills itself as a “weekly series on CBC Music that explores the many worlds of contemporary Indigenous music,” hosted by Jarrett Martineau, featured the host introducing a song by telling listeners that “this one (song), in sonic solidarity with the people of Palestine, this is ‘River 2 the Sea,’ on Reclaimed.”

The song in question, by Hussein Elnamer (who goes by the stage name Handsome Tiger), is a reference of the commonly-used anti-Israel chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” referring to the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea, an unmistakable message that calls for Israel’s dissolution or destruction in its entirety.

Shared Table to host donation-only concert to help tackle food insecurity | Music

It started much like any intentional gesture starts: with an act of kindness and generosity. Last fall, Ashlee Howard hosted a writer’s retreat at the Mabel Dodge Luhan Retreat Center. During one of the writing sessions, Howard hired Frederick Aragon to play the Native flute. The music and writing experience was so well-received that one of the attendees anonymously donated money for another concert.

That concert, which will be Native flute and opera, is happening from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at El Pueblito United Methodist Church Sanctuary in El Prado — home of the Shared Table. Attendees will be encouraged to pay what they can afford —…

Glastonbury Festival to host first dedicated South Asian music stage



Glastonbury Festival will for the first time see the creation of a dedicated South Asian performance space, created and built by a South Asian team.

Located in the longstanding Shangri-La Glastonbury area of the festival, curated and created by a team including Continental Drift’s Chris MacMeikan, Arrivals will be a new space delivered in collaboration with South Asian cultural organisations Dialled In, Going South and Daytimers.

The stage has been designed by Shankho Chaudhuri, Esha Sikander and Shirin Naveed, and will feature the work of illustrator Osheen Siva.
