A photograph of a hooded person carrying a gun is being shared on social media with false claims it shows the attacker involved in a school shooting in the US state of Georgia this week.

The image, which depicts a person wearing a hoodie and jeans carrying a weapon in front of a set of double doors, has been shared on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Threads with captions linking it to the attack at Apalachee High School on 4 September.

A suspect, identified as Colt Gray, 14, is accused of opening fire at his high school in the city of Winder, killing two teachers and two pupils and injuring another eight pupils and one teacher.

A photo showing the Kremlin without any lights on is being shared on social media alongside claims Moscow faces a severe electricity shortage due to Western sanctions. 

One post sharing the photo says: “BREAKING Russia: Moscow remains dark due to severe electricity shortage The reason is reported to be in difficulties at servicing foreign turbines at Russian thermal power plants due to Western sanctions [sic]”. Other posts have almost identical text. 

But the photo does not show a recent electricity shortage—it was shared in a 2014 article about ‘Earth Hour’, the annual WWF event that encourages people to turn off non-essential lights—such as those on famous landmarks—to raise awareness for climate change. A photo of former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump is being shared online with the claim it’s a recent photo—allegedly proving an assassination attempt on his life was “fake”. 

The photo is of the side of Mr Trump’s face and magnifies his right ear. Overlaid text says: “This was an image from Team Trump released yesterday, showing his right ear. Where’s the scar or sutures from being hit in the ear?”

Mr Trump’s right ear was injured in an attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania, on 13 July. One member of the audience, Corey Comperatore, was killed and two others, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were seriously injured.

A doctored photo of Hitler has been shared in social media posts with the suggestion it closely resembles a photo of Donald Trump after his attempted assassination.

The posts share a black and white collage showing a photo of Mr Trump moments after he was shot at alongside a photo of Hitler seemingly in almost exactly the same position. Some versions of the image are being shared amongst claims the assassination attempt was staged.

Both photos supposedly show the men flanked by a man and woman in similar positions, with the US and Nazi flags respectively in the backgrounds. 

Overlaid text on one post says “To see it in B&W is chilling. Both are exactly the same”.

However, the photo of Hitler has been edited in multiple ways to resemble a photo of Mr Trump captured…

A photo appearing to show French President Emmanuel Macron kissing a man is a still from an AI-generated video.

The picture has been viewed six million times on X (formerly Twitter) and has also been shared on Facebook. It often appears with the caption: “BREAKING: New photos appear to show French President Emmanuel Macron kissing a man and being fruity as hell.”

Although the picture of the kiss looks pretty convincing, the pause and volume buttons and progress bar visible at the bottom of many versions of the image indicate it comes from a video. Some versions of the claim being shared online also include this video.
