OVH Eco Servers (Kimsufi, SoYouStart, Rise) – complete range refresh and new pricing


Yesterday, OVH knocked availability for their entire Eco range off, and then a few hours later refreshed the line-up completely. The specs of the new line-up don’t exactly match what they offered before, but as far as I can tell this is the next iteration in their process of moving servers one tier down – so that previously new tech servers become Rise, previous Rise ones become SYS, previous SYS ones become Kimsufi. As a result, the Atom CPUs have now dropped off the bottom of the Kimsufi range. A bit of a price increase in the process, in that the cheapest SoYouStart server is now about the $40 mark rather than the $30 mark. But they’ve also made some changes to the differences between the tiers – Kimsufi is still capped at 300mbps, and don’t come with 100 GB of free backup…

AMD unveils new Epyc 4004 server CPUs spanning a range of price points

What just happened? AMD has announced its Epyc 4004-series entry-level server processors for small and medium-sized businesses and dedicated hosting. The announcement comes just days after the company launched its Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F “Hawk Point” processors for budget gaming rigs.

Based on the Zen 4 architecture, the Epyc 4004 processors will offer up to 16 cores and 32 threads. Designed for single-socket operation, the new chips will have a minimum base frequency of 3.7 GHz and a maximum clock speed of 5.7 GHz. They will offer up to 128 MB of L3 cache and support up to 192 GB of 5200 MT/s dual-channel DDR5 ECC memory.
