Temu’s Rise: Driving The Future of E-Commerce

Temu, an e-commerce platform that’s been gathering millions of users since its September 2022 launch, has maintained the top spot as the most downloaded app in the U.S. throughout 2023. The Temu app was recently recognised as an Editor’s Choice on the Google Play app store

In the wake of a splashy Super Bowl ad encouraging users to “shop like a billionaire” on the app, Temu garnered a reputation for offering surprisingly inexpensive products, from clothing to electronics. These low prices have spurred a trend of shoppers posting about their “Temu hauls” on social media, but they’ve also led some to question how such low prices are possible.

Microsoft Adopts the RISE with SAP solution on Microsoft Cloud

Microsoft announced it has begun migrating its internal SAP systems to S/4HANA under the RISE with SAP umbrella, making SAP responsible for the licensing, technical management, hosting, and support of its SAP applications under a single SLA.

The migration to S/4HANA will serve a dual purpose for Microsoft: modernizing its legacy SAP systems before the end of mainstream support in 2027 and demonstrating to customers that it is capable of hosting and running one of the largest and most complex SAP installations in the world within the RISE framework.

All three major cloud providers host SAP applications for their customers, and all three run at least some of their internal financial systems on SAP.

Microsoft has run SAP internally since at least 1995; Amazon.com is…

UK web traffic to incel websites sees huge rise, Centre for Countering Digital Hate finds

THERE has been a six-fold rise in UK web traffic to websites promoting “incel” culture, new analysis has found.

The Centre for Countering Digital Hate found that UK web traffic data to three of the largest “incel” sites has grown from 114,420 monthly visits to 638,505, over the period of March to November 2021.

The Times reported that users on the sites referred to Plymouth mass shooter Jake Davison as a hero and called for “all women to be raped at least once”.

Davison, 22, killed his mother, Maxine Davison, 51, after a row and then shot dead four others in a 12-minute attack.

His social media usage suggested an obsession with “incel”, involuntary celibate, culture, which promotes the idea that society is defined by physical appearance.

Kilgore cancels National Night Out events because of rise in COVID-19 spread

Sep. 28—Continued high COVID-19 spread in the area has forced the cancellation of Kilgore’s National Night Out parties.

“Many of our dedicated hosts and attendees to the National Night Out parties are in the high risk category for COVID exposure,” the Kilgore Police Department said in a Facebook post. “We felt it was the best choice to not move forward in hosting the NNO parties (being we use the format where we have individual neighborhood parties at a host’s home, and not a larger community gathering).”

National Night Out aims to unite communities and local law enforcement through annual parties.

Though Kilgore has cancelled its National Night Out, the Overton Police Department plans to hold its own celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Chief Bryan Pool invites the…
